Esther Nkambwe
ESTHER NKAMBWE, the Deputy Director of Community Service Programmes is a qualified economist and banker by profession. She currently works for Bidii Investment Tanzania Limited as Executive Director administering loans and managing other credit issues; previously with Vibindo Finance Limited in the same position and with Blue Financial Services Ltd as a Country Credit Manager between 2012 and 2014. All together she has over 25 years of work experience in the banking industry and has led teams and undertaken a wide range of duties, from participating in a strategy development, heading a credit department to participating in banking research and development programs and handling international business banking and operations.
Esther was nominated a bank’s top performer and a top leader/manager for 2010, based on staff vetting on individual performance. During her leadership at the bank branch, she attracted 80 new corporate clients, exceeding a set target of 15 accounts as one of key performance indicators (KPIs) and opened 1,290 individual accounts, being a 99.2% achievement of a set target of 1,300 individual account openings. She is also on record for eliminating fraud practices at a bank branch through restructuring, instituting appropriate internal controls, educating staff and raising awareness on key fraud indicators.
She is a good team leader who inspires individual commitment and honest performance among colleagues and general members of staff. Esther was nominated for the best customer services award in 2008 and won the award as an appreciation and recognition for her effort in handling bank’s customers well.
Esther devoted her professional career in the banking industry, starting with the National Bank of Commerce since 1986. She pursued various training sessions within the banking industry including the one organized by the Citibank Financial Institution for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America Division. She also attended a course at the Atlanta Management Institute in Georgia, USA, in project management for Women in Development; a course organized by Project Stirling AB Sweden on project appraisal, planning, organization, follow up and cost control management.
Esther has a Master of Business Administration (MBA Finance) degree from the University of Dar es Salaam (1994) and a Bachelor of Commerce with marketing option (1986). Given all this rich and vast experience, she will definitely add invaluable contribution to the Board and, through the directorate of Community Service Programmes, enable BUDEFO to accomplish its objectives.
