ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT SERVICES
The core functions of the Directorate of Finance and Economic Empowerment include planning the Foundation’s income generating activities and funding raising, budgeting and reviewing its financial expenditure, organizing investment strategies, and supervising acquisition and disposal of assets.
The directorate is particularly charged with the responsibility to contribute to economic empowerment services through stimulation of economic vibrancy in Kagera by promoting domestic and foreign business investments and linking the region with members of the East African Community and the world at large. Special emphasis shall be placed on promoting active involvement and participation of BUDEFO members in the diaspora.
Through this directorate, BUDEFO intends to promote strategies aimed at building the region’s internal capacity by inculcating entrepreneurial zeal and skills among the people of Kagera, especially women and youth, through frequent training and seminars with emphasis on establishing cooperative ventures. The sustainability of such efforts lies in fostering a network of SACCOS and other micro-saving and credit initiatives at the grassroots.
The directorate is the lifeline and umbilical cord linking BUDEFO with home-based financial institutions particularly Mkombozi Bank, BIG Plc as well as other banks which have a presence in Kagera.
