COMMUNITY SERVICES
Youth mentoring, promotion of sporting activities, emergency and crisis management, outreach programmes especially among women, and promotion of legal rights and obligations, all these constitute major duties and obligations of the Directorate of Community Service Programmes. In a way, the directorate enables BUDEFO to prepare the mindset of the residents of Kagera to participate fully in economic, social and cultural activities.
The directorate is tasked to identify and plan how the Foundation shall participate and assist in improving community services in the Bukoba Municipality and rural areas. This involves sensitization of the people from the grassroots and encouraging them to espouse and uphold their cultural values and work together to promote the interests of the region.
In order to achieve such objectives, the Director of Community Service Programmes will, first, identify competent and committed individuals and mobilize their participation in community activities. Secondly, they will organize empowerment and entrepreneurial seminars, particularly among women, aimed at creating awareness about their social, economic and legal rights, and also encourage them to engage in income-generating activities. Thirdly, encourage women and youth to vie for political and social leadership positions.
With regard to sporting, the emphasis is being placed on bringing the youth together, teach them how to develop a physically fit and productive condition, and, above all, keep them away from mischief, transgression, and waywardness.
