Moses A. Kagya
MOSES K. KAGYA, the Director of Education, is holder of BSc degree (Pure and Applied Mathematics) in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam (1974), and MBA from ADL (now HULT Institute) Boston USA (1980). His work experience includes over 15 years in government first as a High School teacher of Mathematics, and later moved to Capital Development Authority (CDA), an agency created to build the new national capital in Dodoma.
While at CDA, Moses was sponsored by UNDP to spend time working on urban development economic models, programme management and financing with the Rouse Company in Maryland, USA, a private company which at that time, was developing a new township of Columbia located between Baltimore and Washington DC in USA. He was again sponsored by UNDP to work on management information systems in Australia with the National Capital Development Commission (NCDC), a government agency established to build Canberra, Australia’s new national capital. This exposure propelled Moses to become CDA’s acting Chief Executive in 1981.
As an entrepreneur, Moses is a co-founder of Tangerm Construction Co. Ltd, a civil and building construction firm based in Dar es Salaam of which he serves as a full time Management Director; founder and director of KK Consultancy Ltd, a real estate and consultancy company of which he is director and Chief Executive; and one of the founder members and Executive Chairman of the Dodoma-based Tanganyika Vineyards Co. Ltd., (TAVICO), a private company jointly owned by local and foreign entrepreneurs. In his capacity as the company’s Executive Chairman, Moses has been extensively involved with grape farmers in mobilizing and organizing them for quality grape production, a pre-requisite for quality wine.
Moses is the National Treasurer of Kanyigo Development Association (KADEA), an NGO created by the people of Kanyigo in Missenye District to spearhead their social-economic development.
