Liberata Mulamula
AMBASSADOR LIBERATA MULAMULA, the Director of Public Relations and Policy, is a career diplomat with 35 years of experience having served the Tanzania Government in various capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Diplomatic missions abroad. She also served as the first Executive Secretary of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region headquartered in Bujumbura, Burundi. From 2006 – 2011 she successfully steered implementation of Peace Agreements and regional programs for Peace, Stability and Development covering 11 countries of the Great Lakes Region (Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Congo Republic, DRC, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia).
Before retirement in April 2016, she served as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Tanzania Ambassador to USA & Mexico; and Special Advisor to H.E. retired President Jakaya Kikwete on all Diplomatic matters. While in the US, Ambassador Mulamula actively mobilized the Tanzania Diaspora to contribute to Tanzania’s economic development and transformation.
She is a member of the School of Diplomacy and International Relations, USA; Budapest Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities; Genocide Prevention Advisory Network (GPANet); Member of the Advisory Council of the Inter-peace Organisation, among others. Ambassador Mulamula is a Recipient of the Order of the United Republic of Tanzania 2015 Award for Distinguished Public Service. She brings this wide experience to the work of BUDEFO and in forging partnerships with development partners and friends of Tanzania.
